One of my modules required that I kept a visual journal. This basically meant to me that Id get marked for what I already do in my spare time. This book consists of drawings, ideas, doodles, reflection, work that i've produced and things I think are cool. I really like the idea of having a creative journal, I think I'm going to opt for a smaller one to carry around for when inspiration strikes me! Heres a few bits and bobs that I like in my journal.
I made a lot of mock ups for Iglouu that tied in with our campaign idea. We wanted to make it multi media, so we incorporated a social media competition, where you had to pick up a sheet from the igloo store cut out your own Louu, take him with you some where interesting, snap a selfie, follow Iglouu and hashtag the image. Whoever had the best image won a prize or a discount. Our initial idea was to have a QR code on the flyer so you could see the video to explain what to do. Unfortunately we never got this done, due to issues creating a video and uploading to the companies YT. Yet we did make a mock video shown below the cutout.

Little images of Louu's travels that were used in the advert were also created to hang in the shop and also kept in a photo album for visitors to look through.
Finally I made a little poster/ social advert for the company to use.
I had the pleasure to work with Iglouu as a creative in a group project, they pretty much gave us free reign as to what we wanted to create. Another creative and I came up with an origin story of why Louu their mascot set up shop in Newcastle. I got to pitch the ideas to the owners of Iglouu and they loved it. Which lead us to create this campaign and to create supporting materials for their store!
The company used our video on their social and it had positive reviews, which was great to see! I love the concept of our campaign there are some parts of the video execution that are not to my taste, however I am very pleased with the overall finished product.
My Advertising course has a module dedicated to graphic design and visual communication. For an advertiser this seemed a little daunting, were not really the finishing touches people, were more the scribble down some ideas and brainstorm till you have no vocabulary left, kind of people. Yet I really enjoyed the module, being creative and making things look pretty is kind of my bag, so I enjoyed getting to know the software and having a 'play' albeit a strictly marked play on the software!
The first software I used was Illustrator and I found this incredibly hard, its such a good software but when you have a day to learn it, its intense we had to draw a cow, a train and a lion. unfortunately mine were not that great. I've gain basic knowledge of how to use this and with time and a bit patience Im sure I will master this software.
Final designs for social media invites for the Launch party and a Schedule to inform and create interest. All to be posted on the official J20 Facebook page.
Please find below concept mood boards for our Launch Party for J20.
Each member of staff will wear all black, accompanied by women wearing black bobbed wigs and heavy black makeup, the only pop of colour will be there lipstick that resembles the flavours of the drinks. We want our products to always be the main attraction in our event, having and overall Black and White theme makes them the pop of colour.
If we were to throw the launch in Newcastle we would choose the Boiler Room as it is a very edgy industrial space, great for an urban vibe and also a large enough space to accommodate entertainment, and a large number of guests.Contemporary dance and ariel dancers will preform throughout the night to create a sophisticated atmosphere. These will be in lighting that makes them look like a silhouette. A DJ will also be present as well as special guest Riton an up and coming newcastle Dj who has recently been in the charts with his hit Rinse and Repeat.
Accessories to add to the room include long white flowing drapes, circular fairy lights, classy balloon structures and seat swings. All cups will be matte black or white and there will be an ice bucket filled with Pr samples of the drinks for guests to drink.
We want our drinks to be the main attraction so we intend to serve them in style, flavoured ice cubes, frozen fruit garnishes and attention to detail will be expected with every drink.
As part of the J20 re brand, we decided to create a launch party. I created menu's for J20 cocktails with a clean and effective design and tried to add a little humour to the descriptions. Each menu is dedicated to a flavour and a specific alcohol that accompanies that flavour. Each flavour and its reflecting menu are targeted at specific age ranges within our demographic of 25- 35. Gin is aimed at 32-35, Rum is aimed at 28 -31, Vodka is aimed at 25-30. A recurring theme in the menu's is use of celebrity couples as this fits with our theme of 'Made For Each Other'.
Whilst a percentage of my course mates were slaving away on a gruelling 10,000 word dissertation, my group and I were embarking on an exciting (slightly daunting) group project. We took on the challenge of re branding the soft drink J20. Our demographic was 25-35 year old men and women. Through thorough research, I mean 200 pages plus of research, we decided to brand J20 as a mixer for alcohol. We wished to target previous drinkers of J20 who perhaps drank it in their younger years but now had grown out of it. By re branding J20 to look more 'grown up' we were hoping to spark nostalgia and brand loyalty that used to be present and make it acceptable to drink this in a club environment.
To introduce the mixer idea, we created a new flavour Lemon & Lime J20. As our research suggested that Gin was making a come back, we thought that this would be the ideal mixer to accompany this popular alcohol.
We gave existing flavours a design reboot and also suggested what alcohol these flavours would go well with. Apple and Mango was designed to mix with Rum, creating a tropical cocktail. Orange and Passion fruit was marketed as the ideal mixer for Vodka, as Orange and Vodka is already a popular drink combination.
